John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has raised concerns about the state of Ghana’s economy, accusing the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of steering the country into a metaphorical ditch.
Mahama, during a two-day tour of the Bono Region as part of his “Building Ghana Tour,” highlighted a perceived standstill in all sectors of the economy. Using the analogy of a stranded bus, he called for collective efforts to pull the nation back onto the road of development.
“The bus on which we are traveling has fallen into a ditch, and we all have to help get it back on the road,” remarked Mahama, underlining the urgency of addressing the economic challenges.
Engaging with the Wenchi Tradition Council during his tour, Mahama responded to local concerns, with Paramount Chief Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoapong Tabrako III emphasizing the need for prioritizing agricultural development. The chief called for an upgrade to the existing Farm College to enhance the region’s agricultural potential.
Asserting the NDC’s capability to lead the country back to development, Mahama addressed issues such as the national debt. He pledged a focus on agriculture and unveiled plans for a cashew processing plant in the Bono Region, aiming to catalyze agricultural transformation.
In addition to his promises for economic revival, Mahama assured the completion of stalled projects in the region, demonstrating his commitment to addressing both immediate concerns and long-term development goals.
