John Dramani Mahama’s Pledge to Construct Oncology Centers in Northern Ghana

John Dramani Mahama, the former President of Ghana and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has recently pledged to build oncology centers in the Northern parts of Ghana if he is re-elected as president. This commitment is part of his broader healthcare strategy aimed at improving accessibility and quality of healthcare services in the region.

Mahama, who served as the President of Ghana from 2012 to 2017, has always been a strong advocate for equitable healthcare access. His latest promise aligns with this vision, focusing on the need for specialized cancer care facilities in the underserved Northern regions of Ghana.

Currently, Ghana faces a significant challenge in managing and treating cancer due to a lack of specialized facilities and trained personnel, especially in the Northern parts of the country. This has resulted in many patients having to travel long distances to seek treatment or, in some instances, not receiving the necessary care at all.
